Perspective

a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.

I have my perspective and you have yours, so does that mean one of us is right and the other is wrong because we see things differently?

Absolutely not!

Perspectives have everything to do with what we carry inside of us. Our memories, the way we have been conditioned to think and our circumstances all effect our perspective, so how can we all have the same one.

Different perspectives can create discord in relationships, which is why it is vital to speak your truth and listen to someone else’s.

We want to be heard, yet often times we don’t even express ourselves; we just expect people to read our minds and understand our perspective without telling them.

Some of us have a sense of entitlement and are completely driven by our ego, so we think our perspective is the only one that counts or matters, so we dismiss anyone who doesn’t share ours.

It takes vulnerability to open up and share what we think to someone. But if you try and share your perspective with someone who hasn’t done any healing work on their inner wounds like abandonment or rejection, they will not only refuse to hear it, they will find fault with it.

But everyone’s perspective is valid and should be given the opportunity to be shared. Criticizing someone for theirs if it doesn’t match yours, it saying that their opinion doesn’t matter, which is essentially saying their truth isn’t the truth because it doesn’t match yours.

Why do we have to make someone feel wrong in order to feel right? Why do we have to be so critical? Judgemental? Try to outsmart someone? Be combative, critical and judgemental, just because another person doesn’t share our perspective.

It’s a question for us all, especially if we don’t like the way our relationships are. Where have we not allowed someone their perspective? And why is it so important for us to be validated with ours at the expense of theirs?

Everyone’s perspective matters, so if you really want people in your life you say you care about, then you have to allow them theirs.
